MAC Fashion Sets' Impassioned and Saint Germain review and swatches

Macs' Fashion Sets
Released last month, MAC's Fashion Sets represent popular sellers from around the world. Just when you thought their lipstick was good enough, they threw like-coloured lipglasses and nail polishes into the mix. Since I technically reside in the Asia Pacific realm, Australia played host to MACs' Impassioned, St. Germain, Ravishing, Morange and Angel.
Seeing that I don't paint my own nails, I immediately scratched polish off the list and because this release is inspired by their own best-sellers in lipstick-form (you can buy these year-round) - lipglasses won out. Even though I rarely wear lip gloss (my hair has some sort of magnetic attraction when I ever I apply it) I figured what the heck?!
MAC's lipglass sports the familiar vanilla scent and petite doe foot applicator. Unlike their lipstick, the lipglasses are a sheerer version yet still capture their roots. For girls who are looking to try a semi-bold look but aren't willing to fully commit, I think choosing a lipglass is the better route.
Out of the five I had to choose from, I went with St. Germain (a milky white pink with blue undertones) and Impassioned (a bright fuchsia pink). Just last year I was stalking the MAC counters inside of David Jones and Myer due to the fact both locations couldn't keep Impassioned on the shelves. When they finally received a shipment I tried Impassioned, but I wasn't brave enough to purchase. It looks super pretty on tan gals like Karen and dark-haired mavens like Lilit. MAC, a big thank you to you for diluting this particular potion.

Typical wear time hinges on eating and drinking, but I find I get about three hours of wear on average. Per usual, my hair met my lips much to my chagrin. You can also count on a bit more stickiness/tackiness which I find to be annoying; I feel more inclined to lick my lips since I'm not used to wearing gloss. This effects wear time for me as well.

Value for money spent (performance and quality):
- 7 out of 10 bags – Easy to apply (make sure you wear chapstick if your lips are on the dry side), but gosh darn expensive.
Likelihood to purchase again:
- I did enjoy the teeth whitening ability of Saint Germain; I think I'd be more likely to buy this one again if I should ever run out.
Butter London's Lady Muck - weekly nail review
/Holier than thou, sporting a strand of pearls with an air of distinction is what encompasses the essence of Butter London's Lady Muck. What started as a light blue, turned grey by weeks end. Have you ever noticed nail polishes sometimes adapt and lean towards their undertones the longer you wear it? I typically notice this happening whenever I wear shades that have a hint of grey, blue, black or brown. I wonder if it has something to do with general wear, exposure to the sun and hand washing. There's gotta be some sort of explanation!
Lady Muck helped me to weather the passing storms last week. If you're looking for a mood-capturing steel blue/grey, then this shade is for you.
Essie's Wicked - weekly nail review
/Last week I was super grumpy, make that uber-grumpy pants. I was hungry, tired and cranky; what made it worse was we couldn't find a place to eat for lunch. Who would've guessed most places don't open until dinner time in Melbourne's CBD on Saturdays?! We finally reached a pub amidst a rainstorm; on a superficial level my day had gone from good, to bad, to worse. I made for bad company and I think Saturday's sentiment was telling and foreboding. Prior to my mini-meltdown I had my nails painted with Essie's Wicked. The colour is a dark cherry red with brown undertones; by weeks end it looked more like mahogany. I must say, Wicked matched my moodiness and the roller coaster ride I didn't know I was about to go on.
Two coats are all you need and be sure to sandwich them between reliable base and top coats.
